From Popcorn to Pulse-Racing: Cinemark’s D-BOX Sets You In the Action
Feel the film. Undulate with the story. The D-BOX seats turn the movie into a full-body immersive experience.

Thought the movies was just about sitting back, relaxing, and watching…think again. With D-BOX motion seating and XD screens, the cinema experience is elevated. The XD auditorium features wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling visuals that pull you into the story, while D-BOX seats respond in real time with subtle vibrations and immersive motion synced to the film. It’s a dynamic duo that turns any action, horror, or high-stakes drama into something you feel just as much as you see.
My personal experience into this luxurious experience? On June 21st, ‘28 Years Later’ was the lucky winner. One part apocalyptic chaos, one part full-body thrill ride. Here’s the breakdown of what went down when the screen lit up and the seat activating.
The D-BOX controller is right on the armrest, super easy to use with four intensity levels to choose from. I decided to set mine to the highest setting. ‘28 Years Later’, the latest film in the 28 Days/Weeks/Years Later franchise delivered exactly what you'd expect: chaos, infections, zombies, and survival. There were jump scares that were more intense due to the premium seats, and oddly enough, a total tearjerker moment? No spoilers, but if you're even slightly soft-hearted, consider this your warning. I wasn’t ready either.
Overall, I’d give the film a solid 8 out of 10. What really kept me engaged was the D-BOX experience. Those subtle seat movements and vibrations added just enough tension to keep me immersed without going over the top. If you’ve tried Regal’s 4DX, D-BOX is a step down in intensity, but still delivers an exciting, elevated experience. Now, I know what you're probably wondering… “how much is this cinematic upgrade going to cost me?” For adults, tickets are priced at $23.75, and $19.25 for kids. Worth it? Honestly, for the right movie. Absolutely.
Exclusively at Cinemark Theaters — if there is a theater near you, I’d highly recommend you experience the D-BOX seat along with reserving your seats online because they fill up quick!
I was today years old when I heard of this. I’ll have to look to see if we have any in Austin. I’d love to see a scary movie in 4DX.
